To many, Portugal is the last frontier of wine in Western Europe; there is still so much to be tasted and explored beyond port. We’ll taste the northern end of the country, beginning with the Dão, known for its infamous Touriga Nacional vine, then move north to Vinho Verde and then the Douro Valley, Portugal’s best-known wine region.

This last year we officially fell in love with Portugal – and even more specifically, the Azores! We scoured the earth for wine from these mysterious islands and Portugal’s mainland and returned triumphant. On this cold winter night, let’s bundle up against the cold and dream ourselves away to other shores and temperatures while we explore cutting edge winemaking with red and white grape varieties that are likely unknown to us: Gouveio, Rabigato, Codega, Viosinho, Arinto, Tinto Negro Mole, and Touriga Nacional.
